Ionah is a professional belly dance performer, choreographer, instructor, event producer and troupe director in Syracuse, New York. Ionah specializes in Orientale/Raqs Sharqi. Audiences admire her technical precision as well as her emotional connection to the music. Middle Eastern and American audiences alike have commented on her portrayal of the music, her fluid expression and gracefulness, and her ability to tell a story and interpret the music’s meaning with her dance. An energetic performer, she is a favorite at weddings, parties and family events and always leaves a memorable impression on her audience.
Ionah instills technique, grace, and posture in her students. A respected teacher for over 6 years, her students return to her class for inspiration and (most importantly) a lot of fun and laughs. Ionah’s sense of humor is infectious and helps students gain the confidence they need to execute new movements and grow as a dancer of Raqs Sharqi (Belly Dance). Ionah is well known for her technical precision, which she uses to help provide students a safe and solid foundation from which they can build drama and individualization in their preferred style of belly dance.
In this 2 hour workshop, Ionah will spend an hour on Layering: this would be all about breaking the layering mold and going deeper than just adding shimmies on tops of different isolations and one hour on Fusion Styling - she will cover a little bit of theory, basic technique and movement, and then some combinations - this would be modern fusion with an Oriental twist.
