Basimah is a professional Middle Eastern dancer. She started studying Middle Eastern dance in 2001in Cincinnati Ohio. Basimah has studied extensively with Conchi of Cincinnati, Ohio and Aegela of Toledo, Ohio. She had the honor to dance with Alhambra Dance troupe under the direction of Conchi Madson for three years. Basimah currently makes monthly visits to Aegela in Toledo, Ohio for private dance training and is Aegela's official archivist and booking agent. In 2010, Basimah relocated to Northern NY and holds weekly classes, workshops and haflas. She is honored to be recently hired as an adjunct instructor of Middle Eastern dance at St. Lawrence University. Basimah frequently travels regionally and nationally, performing and vending at events in the dance world. She also participates in workshops to further her dance research.
